Hours of operation
The ZTL is active from 15 September to 31 December, from 09:00 - 19:30 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays and from 1 June to 14 September, from 09:00 - 22:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
There is currently no Italian national scheme, but regional as well as individual city schemes.
However, there is a mobile phone app that can tell you when you are about to drive into a camera enforced ZTL.
National exemptions for all ZTL:
Categories stated by law: public transport, vehicles for disabled people with a registered disabled persons badge.
These are be allowed, without gaining prior permission:
• Taxis, emergency services, those working on behalf of the city authority, providing healthcare, postal services, cultural, recreational, commercial, philanthropic, political or sports if has authorization or the order issued for this event, 2 and 3 wheelers, electric-drive vehicles (nedd prior registration);
Allowed, subject to gaining prior permission – a permit:
• Motor vehicles and mopeds not included in the previous list;
• Goods vehicles, for carrying out loading and unloading operations;
Loading and unloading can be done at any time.
