Emilia Romagna, Lombardia, Piemont and Veneto have a coordinated winter emergency measure.

The winter emergency measure affects cities over 30.000 inhabitants during from 1 October 2017 - 31 March 2018.

Emergency measure:

After four consecutive days of exceeding the PM10 limit, the minimum Euro standard on the next day is from 08:30 – 18:30:

  • Petrol Euro 2
  • Diesel Euro 5
  • Motorcycles Euro 1 
  • commercial diesel Euro 3 are banned from 8:30 - 12:30

After ten consecutive days of exceeding the PM10 limit:

  • commercial diesel Euro 3 are banned from 8:30 - 18:30
  • commercial diesel Euro 4 are banned from 8:30 - 12:30

There is also a Winter ZTL in urban areas of Emilia Romagna, Lombardia, Piemonte and Veneto with more than 30.000 inhabitants.

From 1 October 2017 to 31 March 2018 from Monday to Friday from 08:30 - 18:30. The minimum standard for all diesel vehicles is:

  • petrol Euro 2
  • diesel Euro 4

From 1 October 2018 on there will be a winter LEZ every year! This affects Emilia Romagna, Lombardia, Piemonte and Veneto.

From 1 October to 31 March from Monday to Friday from 08:30 - 18:30 the minimum standard for all diesel vehicles is:

  • Diesel Euro 4

The standard will be tightened from 2020 on!

  • Diesel Euro 5

And from 2025 it will be tightened to:

  • Diesel Euro 6
