To use the motorway in France you have to pay a road charge (péage).

As there are often long lines in front of the paying offices, is it worthwhile to get a badge. That enables you to use special lanes where you can just pass through (30km/h) without stopping. If you just travel on the motorway occasionally, you can get a badge called "formule Balade". For this you pay a one time service fee of 11€ and 10€ for the badge itself. The monthly fee applies only for the months you use the badge (1.70€/month).

Being able to avoid waiting in line can save you several hours!

You can also pay cash, with credit card or cash card.

Make sure to get into the right lane for either paying cash or with card!
