The Stuttgart Smog Alarm, or Feinstaubalarm, season starts again on the 15th October. When the pollution levels are high, Drivers will be asked to leave their diesel and petrol vehicles at home in times of high pollution.

Stuttgart city has improved public transport to give people more non-car options, including increasing capacity on the public transport. There is a  "Feinstaubalarm Plus" ticket, during alarm days, adults travel half price (a single ticket costs a child's price).

The Mayor of Stuttgart asks people to make the voluntary driving restriction work. If it does not work, there is likely to be a legal vehicle ban from next winter.
