With the Volkswagen emissions scandal, many people are wondering about vehicle emissions and what vehicles actually emit when driving on the road.

The 'official fuel consumption' figures also often do not relate to the fuel use experienced once the vehicle is bought and driven.

When buying a new car, which car has lowest emissions? What is the actual fuel use of the car I want to buy?

Emissions Analytics, has measured the nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions and fuel use from over 250 vehicles in the real world and released the data. Their EQUA Air Quality Index identifies vehicle nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions, on a scale from A (best) to H (worst). The table headings are given in the picture below, and click on Emissions Analytics for the full data.

More vehicles are being continually added to the list, and there are plans to include particulate measurements in the future. Follow the link to Emissions Analytics to find out more, or see their press release, General Q&A and Technical Q&A..
