Barcelona will implemented a low emission zone (ZBE - zona de bajas emisiones) in an area of more than 95 km 2 in January 2020.
In this area is the circulation of the most polluting vehicles restricted to protect the atmosphere, the health of people and the environment.
Vehicles registered outside of Barcelona need to get registered and meet the given standard to be allowed to circulate.
The low emission zone includes the entire city of Barcelona between the B-20 and the B-10 ring road and part or all of the municipalities of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cornellà de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat and Sant Adrià de Besòs. The ring roads are not included.
In the city of Barcelona, the neighborhoods of Vallvidrera, Tibidabo i les Planes, and the Zona Franca remain outside the ZBE.
The low emission zone is active weekdays from Monday to Friday: from 07:00 -20:00.
