Leeds stops work on Low Emission Zones due to improved air quality

Leeds (UK) has stopped work on their low emission zone (clean air zone) due to improvements in air quality, as the LEZ may now not be needed.

Pollution has lowered both due to less traffic due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, as well as to cleaner vehicles being used.

The city authorities are reviewing the pollution levels, to see whether the lower pollution is likely to continue.

It is expected that other UK cities will also implement clean air zones. When this has been confirmed, we will let you know on our news and our UK page.
