ReVeAL June Webinars: A series of webinars supporting good practice access regulations, every Tuesday in June
There is one webinar on Tuesday the 18th May Access Regulation Design / Scenario Building and UVAR Building Blocks, and a series in June that look at cross-cutting issues that help ensure the Access Regulation fulfils its full potential, these are on each Tuesday in June, (8, 15, 22 and 29th June):
- System Design aspects & technology options, 8 June, this helps support the scenario building choices
- By joining the webinar, attendees will look at different UVAR systems and technology options, as well as the factors involved in selecting fitting options, with examples from the ReVeAL cities of London and Helmond. In particular, London has used different enforcement options for their various UVARs, thus deciding which technology would be most appropriate; on the other hand, Helmond has been reducing speed on its roads using Intelligent Speed Adaptation.
- How to meet user needs and get the best public acceptance, 15 June
- By joining the webinar, attendees will look at factors to ensure that their hypotethical UVAR solutions get the greatest public acceptance possible and meet the needs of cities transport users’, using a comparison of two Swedish cities and the example of the ReVeAL city of Bielefeld. The tale of two cities illustrates how two very similar schemes received very different levels of public support and provides lessons to avoid the same mistakes. Bielefeld is using a range of methods to involve stakeholders to ensure that they design the UVAR that their city needs, and that will be accepted by its citizens.
- How to ensure Governance & Financing works to get the best regulation 22 June
- By joining the webinar, attendees will look at the factors to consider in the processes and financing of an UVAR, with examples from the ReVeAL cities of Vitoria Gasteiz and Jerusalem. Vitoria Gasteiz will describe how they incorporated their UVAR into the Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning process and the benefits this brought. Jerusalem will discuss how to raise awareness on LEZ scheme through communication techniques and campaigns.
- Getting the right transport alternatives 29 June
-
By joining the webinar, attendees will understand that an UVAR does not automatically reduce the need of people, goods and services to access the UVAR area. Indeed, mobility concepts go hand in hand with UVAR implementation to enable the maximum positive impact. Attendees will find out more about mobility concepts and options selected by ReVeAL partner Helmond as it develops the new Brainport Smart District with zero-emission and (almost) motor vehicle-free transport. They will also hear from Padua, one of the most successful schemes in Europe and find out the secret of its success. City logistics is a significant issue for most cities. Attendees will hear from Padua, one of the most successful public-driven and subsidised urban consolidation centres in Europe, and will find out the secret of its success.
