London meets NO₂ air quality standards thanks to the ULEZ

London now meets the NO₂ air quality standards thanks largely to the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), which includes minimum emissions standards for light-medium duty vehicles. 

In 2019 it was estimated that without additional action it would take 193 years for London to meet these NO₂ limits, but thanks to the air quality measures, the most significant of which is the ULEZ, this has been achieved in just nine years – 184 years early.
