A low-emission zone (Strefa Czystego Transportu, SCT) will come into effect in downtown Katowice on 29 June 2026. 

The low-emission zone encompasses Katowice's compact city centre. This includes the market square and surrounding streets, including Mariacka, Dyrekcyjna and Staromiejska. These areas already largely function as pedestrian zones with severely restricted vehicle traffic.
