As well a number of cities having Low Emission Zones, and Emergency Schemes, many Regions and in France also

have emergency smog schemes.

These take place in certain areas and sometimes even in the entire departments. The Smog Alerts are active when the air pollution gets too bad, above certain limits.

When they are active, your vehicle needs to meet the set emissions standards and you need a Crit’Air sticker (which states the Euro standard of your vehicle).
