Low Emission Zones are not only in Europe, but also elsewhere in the world. Other countries with low emission zones include China, Japan, Iran and now also Israel.

Haifa, in Israel now has a low emission zone for heavy duty vehicles. All vehicles over 3.5 tonnes must be fitted with a certified particulate filter. This reduces particulate emissions by around 99% from these vehicles, without increasing other pollutants.
