Tirol has various schemes on the A12 motorway to reduce the pollution. The night driving ban regulates driving on the A12 for HGVs. It is detailed below.

From 1 November 2016 the sectoral driving ban has been tightened to Euro VI.

There is also a motorway LEZ (pre-Euro 2 lorries over 7.5 T), a sectoral driving ban (lorries over 7.5 tonnes), an air quality-based speed limit (100km/h for passenger cars), a night time speed limit (all vehicles) and a ban on overtaking (lorries over 3.5 tonnes). Night driving ban

A night driving ban for all heavy goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes on the A12 lower Inn Valley between has been in place since 1st January 2007.

Until 31st  December 2020 there is an exemption for Euro 6 vehicles.

Dates and Standards

Heavy goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes total weight are not allowed to use a certain part of the A12 at certain night times.

The IG-L night driving ban is valid on the section of the A 12 Inntal motorway between road kilometers 6,35 in the municipality of Langkampfen and road kilometers 90,00 in the municipality of Zirl, in both directions.

Enforcement

Manual. Driver must carry the relevant document that gives the vehicle Euro standard.


Registration

No registration is needed. Driver must carry the relevant document that gives the vehicle Euro standard.

From 1st May 2017 the official Austrian sticker, that shows the Euro standard of the vehicle, has to be put on the windshield of the vehicle. For more information about those stickers see here.

  • winter period : 01.11 - 30.04: Monday to Saturday from 20:00 to 05:00 and Sunday and holidays from 23:00 – 05:00
  • summer period: 01.05 - 31.10: Monday to Saturday from 22:00 to 05:00 and Sunday and holidays from 23:00 – 05:00

  • Transport of perishable products and transports of periodic printouts
  • Transports for the maintenance of urgent medical supply
  • Transport of living animals
  • Journeys along the A12 and the A13 needed for road infrastructure maintenance or the construction of the railway infrastructure Munich - Verona
  • Journeys of the automobile roadway repair service
  • Non-suspendable journeys of military vehicles of international organisations and aid organisations on peace missions
  • Journeys along the connection sections to the train station of Wörgl for the loading of goods
