    Introduction

Barcelona also has an access regulation in place.
From December 2017 to 31 December 2018 Barcelona city has an emergency scheme in place.

Then the circulation of the most polluting vehicles is progressively restricted in Barcelona city and Greater Barcelona.
 


The introduction of the low emission zone is phased in Barcelona. 

You need a Spainish LEZ sticker, which depends on the Euro standard of your vehicle (see under 'National scheme').

The start dates and requirements of the different phases are in the table below. 
Please note, there are two schemes. One for Barcelona city, the other for Greater Barcelona. Please see the different tables.

Cars and vans
From the winter of 2017 until the spring of 2018 motorcycles, trucks, coaches, buses and vans Euro 1, Euro 2 and Euro 3 will be temporarily exempted.
This will be reviewed during 2018.

Registered vehicle owners get the appropriate sticker send by mail without ordering it.
Foreign vehicles can get stickers from post offices (see below).
If you do not have a sticker, your vehicle may be stopped and your vehicle papers checked. The level of penalty will depend on whether you meet the emissions standard.

The scheme is in place:

  • from 1 December 2017 on high pollution events: from Monday to Friday from 07:00 - 20:00 from the day following the declaration of the episode until the same day that the end of the episode is declared
  • from 1 December 2019 on: permanent prohibition from Monday to Friday from 07:00 - 20:00 
  • from 1 January 2020 permanent prohibition of the vehicles not complying

    Exemptions

People with reduced mobility, emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) and essential services (medical, funeral)​.
Electric vehicles, PHEV (minimum range 40 km), PHEV (minimum range < 40 km), gas-hybrids: LPG, CNG, LNG, fuel cell.

Vans, trucks, coaches and buses with Euro 1, 2 and 3 standard are exempted temporarily.
